8th Brigage "Amaqhawe"
The 8th Brigade is the sum of the STARFLEET Marine Corps units deployed within the 8th Fleet.
We are the "Amaqhawe", the Zulu word for 'warriors'. The Zulu nation, native to the Southern part of Region 8, have a proud military tradition studded with tactical and technological advancements that led them to many victories against "superior" foes during the Anglo-Zulu War. We honour them by displaying their colours and using their language for our name and motto:
"Shaya isitha unomphela"
('Defeat the enemy permanently')

Our insignia features the delta emblazoned with the markings of a traditional Zulu shield. The traditional Marine 'arrowhead' shape of the insignia has been substituted with the shape of the tower at the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, believed by some to have been the civilisation that originated some of the Zulu Kingdom's military tactics.

"The STARFLEET Marine Corps is a group affiliated with STARFLEET, The International Star Trek Fan Association Inc. The SFMC is considered an office under the Vice Commander, STARFLEET and as such reports to Vice Commander, STARFLEET
Fictionally, the SFMC is part of the Ground Forces that are rarely seen in the episodes but are assumed to be a part of the Naval Fleet of the United Federation of Planets."
